A founding member and director at GT Energy, Padraig Hanly developed the concept of commercialising geothermal energy from deep geothermal resources. He oversees the internal operations of GT Energy, reports to the board of directors regularly, and is responsible for guiding the team in achieving its goals. Prior to founding GT Energy, Padraig gained a wealth of experience in the civil engineering and construction industries with Liffey Developments. He started his career onsite and progressed through the company as lead business development manager.
Head of Geology
Riccardo Pasquali is a senior geologist with experience in the Irish and international geology sector. His experience lies in the evaluation and exploration of deep geothermal resources, management of deep drilling programmes and the development and testing of geological models. Riccardo has completed a number of geothermal resource assessment studies for national government agencies in Ireland, Northern Ireland and the UK. He is a member of the Institute of Geologists of Ireland and the European Federation of Geologists.
With over 5 years’ experience in the geothermal sector, John Healy manages GT Energy’s engineering and planning department. His role includes the development of projects with local authorities, public bodies and commercial companies. At GT Energy, John project managed and obtained full planning permission for Ireland’s first geothermal plant in Dublin. He joined GT Energy from one of Ireland’s leading civil engineering companies. John has a P.Grad.Dip in Project Management.
Dr Thomas Reif
Dr Thomas Reif advised on over 13 geothermal heat and electricity projects between 2004 and 2012. He was involved with the award-winning geothermal district heating project at Pullach im Isartal in Germany in 2004. Thomas has designed boutique risk mitigation schemes for a number of successful geothermal projects. He has also consulted on due diligence with respect to geothermal mergers and acquisitions transactions. He is an economist and lawyer, and holds a PhD in Business Economics.
Dr Achim Schubert
Dr Achim Schubert is a geologist with over 20 years’ experience in the geothermal energy sector. He is a founding member and managing director of Erdwerk, a geothermal consultancy firm. Achim specialises in managing teams that are delivering integrated solutions for the development of deep geothermal energy resources. His key areas of responsibility include acquisition, project coordination and quality control. He is a member of the German Geothermal Association, the Hydrogeological Section of the German Society for Geosciences and the German Society for Petroleum and Coal Science and Technology.
Project management; district heating, biomass and geothermal power plants
An electrical engineer, Werner Siechter has worked on a wide variety of energy projects over the years. He has particularly focused on project development, energy concepts, district heating design and power plants for geothermal and biomass energy. Werner has advised on a large number of municipal geothermal projects in Germany. He is CEO and managing partner of IB News.
Project management; drilling, plant and construction
Thorsten Weimann is closely involved with the geothermal drilling industry in Germany. He is managing director of the Wirtschaftsforum Geothermie, a German industrial association in the deep geothermal sector. Thorsten is the executive director of Global Engineering and Consulting Company. A mechanical engineer by profession, he also completed an MBA in 2003.
